SEO is definitely not the favorite topic for any photographer to chat about. It’s technical. It’s always changing. It’s quite frankly very ‘ew’.

It’s certainly not what you signed up for when you said you wanted to take this photography hobby into a legit, full-badass business, right?! 😉

That’s where we come in.

At Launch Your Daydream, we’re always focused on a strategy-first approach when it comes to your brand + website design. It’s one thing to have your brand + website look beautiful, but if it’s not set up to help you bring in your dream clients, what’s the point?!

SEO is a big factor in our strategy-first approach. Below, you’ll find out what we focus on for photographers that hire us for their custom brand + website design:

  1. Location-Based Keyword Research: We start the SEO process by asking you in your Website Questionnaire about the specific locations you’d like to focus your website traffic to target. Bigger cities will almost always have more Google searches, but they’ll also have more competition. Including a good mix of bigger cities, smaller cities, and even counties will help us to check your specific location to find the best keywords to target.

  2. Niche-Based Keyword Research: Once we find out your locations, we’re going to ask you which photography specialties you want to focus on for getting traffic from Google. Keep in mind, the more you niche down, the better! You really want your clients to feel like you’re speaking to them, so the more you can specialize in your favorite type of photography, the better!

  3. Research the Numbers: Once we have a combination of your location + niche based details, we’ll work behind-the-scenes to determine whether people are searching Google for any combinations of those specific keywords. Doesn’t really make sense to be #1 in keywords that nobody is searching, right?!

  4. Name Your Images: We’ll send you over which keywords we recommend based on the traffic they’re getting, along with image name recommendations as you export some of your favorites in your photography portfolio for your website design. That way, if someone searches Google Images, your images are more likely to show versus just having your default image names like “IMG-1234.JPG”. We’ll also have you export your images with specific sizing so your images load quickly, which also is a big factor for SEO. Once you upload those to Dropbox, we’ll have them ready to upload into your Showit website design!

  5. Keywords in Website Copy: Whether you provide us with website copy or we help you pull together your website copy with our fun + strategic copy exercises, we’ll make sure your new keywords are in it in all the right places, so Google pays attention. We’ll use best practices like H1, H2, H3 headings, which we’ll teach you all about in your personalized walk-through video after your website is launched!

  6. Keywords in Page Titles and Descriptions: Showit does an incredible job making sure that Page Titles, Page Descriptions and other SEO fields are surfaced for us to add in your keywords. We’ll also show you where this is when we do your personalized walk-through video!

  7. Customized Mobile Site: Are your website visitors mostly from mobile? We’ll always make sure your mobile site is user friendly, customized, and loads quickly for SEO.

In addition to ALL of these things, we always make sure that your site loads quickly, your site navigation is easy to follow, and your clients have a clear journey of the start-to-finish of your website. These are all important factors from a technical perspective that we always keep top of mind!

Ready to get started on your custom brand + website design, so you can have all the SEO love?! We’d LOVE to work with you!

What Does Launch Your Daydream Do For SEO For Your Photography Website?

Launch Your Daydream

[Reading Time: 2 minutes]Hi friends, Britt and Kelsey of Launch Your Daydream here. It’s no secret that we’re going through some very heavy yet eye-opening times in the world right now following the death of George Floyd a few weeks ago.

While we’ve made our support of the Black Lives Matter movement clear on social media, we know that those actions alone aren’t enough. Like many other business owners during this time, we’ve looked inward and asked ourselves how we can be better. We know that we are inclusive in our hearts, but we’ve realized that our brand honestly just doesn’t look or feel that way.

So we’re here today to openly share some steps we’re taking at Launch Your Daydream to move toward a more inclusive business model.

Who we’re working with

  • We have been growing our team behind-the-scenes and are committed to hiring more people of color and collaborating with a more diverse team now and in the future. (Our ‘Team’ page on our website is currently being updated to showcase and promote these people + their businesses as well!)
  • We will be making changes to the messaging within our brand + website to communicate more clearly that our business is inclusive and open to working with photography clients of all backgrounds.

What we’re offering

  • We’ve teamed up with our good friend and past-client, Crystal Lily Photography to begin offering Inclusivity Coaching for our clients in an effort to encourage more inclusivity in not just our own brand (she’s coaching us, too!), but in our photography clients’ brands as well.

What we’re sharing

  • In an effort to use our platform to share the voices and stories of others, we will begin to shift the focus of our social media posts from solely being on the work we produce and rather on also highlighting our clients and their diverse portfolios.
  • We commit to continuing to amplify voices of black educators and businesses within our industry on social media and within our private Facebook group for photographers.
  • We’re building a page of resources on our website to highlight and promote other businesses that can help our clients’ photography businesses grow. This will be another opportunity to amplify Black voices within our community. Any other individuals or businesses featured on this page will be only those that have outwardly committed to anti-racism and are also amplifying Black voices within their business.

We understand that this work doesn’t stop there.

Instead, it’s a lifelong commitment in both our personal and professional lives. In addition to these business shifts, we are ensuring that each of us keeps progressing on our own personal anti-racism journeys in the following ways:

  • Paying and learning from anti-racism educators of color
  • Making monthly donations to multiple anti-racist organizations and activism efforts
  • Continuing to speak out against racism among our peers and family members

If you have any questions about any of the shifts we’re making or any suggestions on other ways we can continue to grow, we are all ears.

We couldn’t be more excited to announce our feature on the PhotoSpark Podcast!

Since 2016, PhotoSpark has been collaborating with professionals to create episodes and candid conversations about photography and business.

When we sat down to chat with Kate and Julie from PhotoSpark, can we be completely corny and say there was a spark?! 😉 The conversation felt so natural and we both felt like we were sitting and having a drink with two long-lost friends.

In our podcast episode with Kate and Julie, we all discussed niching down photography services and how it allows you to open your arms to more of your dream clients. Because, as we all know (including us!), niching down to a VERY specific target market can be really, really scary. It feels like you’re closing the door. But, in reality, you’re actually appealing that much more to those you’re opening the door wide open for!

Thank you for having us on the show, Julie and Kate!

We couldn’t be more excited to show off the new brand and website for Rachel Friedman Photography in Chicago, Illinois!

Rachel is a photographer specializing in maternity, newborn, baby, child and family photography in Glenview, Illinois — serving Chicago, the North Shore and northern suburbs. Her goal for each of her sessions is to authentically capture the love and connection her clients share as a family.

Brand Design with Kelsey

Rachel’s brand words that she uncovered during our Brand Discovery Process are:  relaxed, simple, classic, modern, upscale and fun. These are all words that Rachel wants her clients to feel when they work with her. Keeping these words top of mind when we design her brand + website was key!

From the beautiful, relaxing gradient in Rachel’s logo, to the classic colors used in her palette, this brand aesthetic is spot-on to the fun, “breath of fresh air” experience Rachel provides to her photography clients. And, let’s talk about those gorgeous paint strokes in her logo?!

Website Design with Britt

Rachel’s website is hosted on Squarespace with the Pacific template. We really wanted to showcase a few gorgeous portfolio images front + center on her home page. From there, we brought in the paint strokes from Rachel’s brand and even made custom frames around specific images!

To extend Rachel’s brand even further on her site, we added in custom fonts, brand graphics, and other custom coding to get her site feeling spot-on to her brand.

Check out Rachel’s new website here!

PS: Are you feeling that you’re ready for your brand to FINALLY feel like you?! We would love to work with you, just like we did with Rachel, to finally show off your personality in your brand from start to finish!
