It’s no secret by now that we love Showit and believe it to be the best website platform for photographers. (If you’re not quite convinced about that, though, check this out.)
When it comes to building your website on Showit, there are two options you can take: opt for a custom design or customize a Showit template. Now you might be wondering, “That’s great, but how do I know which option is right for me?”
It’s a fair question, and we’ve got it covered for you as we share five reasons why Showit template customization is the best route for you.
It’s crucial to solidify your brand before you even think about building a website. And in case you need a reminder, a brand is more than just a logo! If you’ve been in business for some time, though, or have previously worked with a branding strategist or web designer, you probably already have a brand. That means that if you’re ready to refresh your website, you already have a big bulk of the work done.
You know your mission, your messaging, and your target audience–you just want to kick it up a notch! If that’s the case, a Showit template customization is the way to go. There’s no need to start from the ground up with selecting your color palette and fonts because you already have those–you can find a template you like and update it to match your current branding. Music to your ears, right?
You’ve been signing new clients left and right, but there’s one thing missing: your website could use a little bit of work to REALLY take your brand to the next level.
Don’t stress and assume you’ll need an entirely new website built from the ground up–purchasing a Showit template and having someone (like us!) give it a little TLC will do the trick! Now you’ll feel confident when people head to your website and see a gorgeous design.
A custom design, with any web designer, typically takes anywhere from eight to twelve weeks–and sometimes even longer, depending on the project. There are a lot of components that go into building both a brand and website from scratch, which is why the timeline is extended. However, if you already have a brand, you’re able to knock off a big chunk of time right off the bat, therefore leaving you with just the website. Not to mention, this approach to website design already has half the work done once you purchase your dream template.
This means that a Showit template customization takes a significantly less amount of time, at about four weeks. So if you decide 2-3 months before your next photography business anniversary that you want to celebrate the anniversary with a new website, that’s completely possible with a template customization.
We get it–as small business owners ourselves, we know there are a lot of expenses to pay for, which means you’re a little conscious of how you’re spending your money and what you’re spending it on. You know you need a new website, but you might not have the budget to invest in a custom design at the moment, and that’s okay! A Showit template customization is offered at a much lower rate than a custom design (at about ⅓ of the price for what we offer!) because of the fact that the website is already built–you just need to add your brand and personality into it. The template itself can range from $400-$1000, which makes it easy to fit within your budget.
So, if you know that you have a max budget of around $3,500 total, a Showit template customization is an excellent choice.
When thinking about getting a brand new website, it can sometimes be tricky to think about what you want. Between the layout, pages, calls-to-action, and more, it can all seem completely overwhelming, and you don’t know where to start!
A template takes away all of that stress for you. Instead of having to think about how you want your website to look, you can determine exactly how you want it to look by selecting a premade template. The fonts, colors, copy, etc. can easily be swapped out, of course–but you already have the format down pat. No guessing here!
