It’s time to show off a new photography brand and website for Sean Thurston Photography!
Sean was referred to us by one of our previous clients, Chelsie Gordon! We love, love, love you, Chelsie! (OH! And, Chelsie is getting married THIS WEEKEND!!! Congrats, girl!!!)
Sean is an Airforce Veteran and started with photography back in 2007. He picked up portrait photography in 2011 and started with wedding photography just last year! He enjoys high pressure situations, especially given his background, and, when he inquired with us, he was ready to jump all in to wedding photography — but wanted to make sure he did so in the best way possible!
Not only did we both have the opportunity to work with Sean, but he also had the opportunity to work with Kara Evans on our Dream Team! Kara worked closely with Sean to learn more about his business model and how to take it to the next level. Sean organized some of his internal behind-the-scenes photography “stuff” — including investing in Dubsado! She even convinced him that blogging NEEEEEDED to be on his radar! (And pssst, if you check out his blog, you’ll see why! He really needs to give himself more credit as a great writer AND photographer!)

From the moment we got connected with Sean, it was SO clear that he is full of heart—not only when it comes to his work, but also when it comes to his family and anything else he is passionate about in life. Pair all that passion and heart with a healthy dose of dad jokes and hilarious GIFs and you’ve got Sean Thurston. You love him already, don’t ya?!
After working through the Discovery Phase with Sean, we established the following words to describe his brand vibes: upscale, masculine, polished, and comforting. We also decided to focus on making the overall aesthetic feel timeless with a “sprinkle” of modern, which highly influenced our font choices.
The color palette for Sean Thurston photography was inspired by his previous brand, but elevated slightly by introducing some new hues and neutrals. We focused mostly on blues and browns but brought in some depth and masculinity with a few accent textures throughout his brand— wood grain, leather, and metallic silver. When used strategically and sparingly, these three textures help bring Sean’s brand to life in a way that feels polished and unique to his personal style.
I couldn’t be more excited to take all these upscale, modern, polished vibes and bring them into a website that Sean and his clients would all love. Thanks to the power of Showit, we were really able to showcase not just Sean’s beautiful portfolio, but also his connection he has with his clients! Those little quotes that we actually pulled from Sean’s questionnaire with Kelsey really make his website copy just feel that much more powerful and personable!
